New Monthly Stamp and Die Series

November 7, 2016

Good Morning,

Today I am starting a new monthly series using my “Die Hard” kit from the “Stamp’s of Life.” The club kit includes a stamp set and a matching die set. The idea for this series has been brewing for a while; it is exciting to bring the concept to life finally.  It will ensure I am using my stamps and dies, instead of looking at them in their beautiful package. While I have quite a few to catch up on, I am starting with this month’s adorable “Mittens2Stamp”.  I, unfortunately, used my stamps before taking a picture of them so my apologies if they don’t appear in their original pristine condition.

This company celebrates the every day; it’s one of the reasons that hooked me. I am often inspired by these differents stamp sets to remember to scrapbook everyday moments.  While these moments often happen now, later on, they will be quickly forgotten. The more I think about it; these everyday occurrences are what make up our lives. They need to be commemorated.

This month’s theme reminds me of playing in the snow, catching snowflakes on your tongue, making a snowman and mugs of hot chocolate. I decided to do a tent card in an odd size of 5 2/8 x 6 (I never said I was conventional!)  I wanted to convey the wintery theme by staying more with the cooler tones of whites, grays, turquoise and silver ink.  20161107_115031.jpgThe background paper is from Bella Blvd. I wasn’t looking for a chevron but, it peaked out of the pile, so I went with it. I used a set of Spellbinders Label dies to create a layer for the mittens and popped it up. The mittens outline are stamped then cut with the shadow die followed by the inside die for the turquoise layer.  These different layers are another reason I like this company, the images are broken into more sections, i.e. the mitten and the cuffs are two pieces. The separate pieces make it easier to customize the image with different colors or patterns. As you notice almost every one of the dies in the set comes with a shadow, brilliant! For someone like me who is left handed and cutting challenged, as I put it, these layer dies are a blessing.

The sentiment block was done again with a Spellbinders set of their “card making” rectangles. It might be hard to see, but the edges are all inked with Brilliance Platinum.  Using the snowflake die, I added the tiny centers to the mittens. (They were the perfect size to fit the cuffs.)  On the larger snowflakes, I added silver Wink of Stella for a subtle glittery look.  Here is a close up:

You notice the silver bits on the snowflake is the Wink of Stella pen. These glittery pens are becoming one of my favorites, now that I have learned how to use them properly. They are great when I don’t squeeze too much resulting in overfilling the barrel.

I used Tim Holtz’s distress ink in “Peacock feathers”  to stamp the sentiment I received in my set.  I used the ink after experimenting with flocking and a few other techniques while creating quite a mess. When will I learn to start with the simple, it is what I usually end up liking the best.  Apparently, I am a “scenic route” kind of crafter!

If you are interested in checking out these stamps and more here is the link The Stamps of Life . Again, I am not paid to write about this company or their products. I am just sharing about a great deal on high-quality stamps and dies; I think you might enjoy.

Thank you for stopping by, as always I love to hear your feedback, please share your thoughts in the comments.

Until next time…..

Good Morning, Today I have a simple card to share.  While it is not too fancy, considering most of my paper crafting is centered around my three boys, getting to use pinks and florals are a treat for me. I fell in love with this year’s Echo Park Spring and Easter collections, read as I bought a …
