The Yummy Layout

I just realized this layout was never uploaded from a few month ago. . It was inspired by the Graphic 45 Facebook layout Challenge for May. At the time, it was the height of the covid stay-in-place orders and kids finishing school, I had hit my limit. This was a perfect oppotunity for some badly needed “creative” therapy

The contest allowed for any G45 collection from past to present, I think they know their product is hoarded, to be entered. I choose this collection, Cafe Parisian, featuring a french bakery and all its yummy treats. I thought a little homage to baking would be appropriate, given all the receipes being shared on social media, my printer has never been so busy.

Originally, I bought these papers for a mini album to celebrate my own family’s obsession with a good dessert. I love all the beautifully detailed images on these papers. Don’t tell anyone, but I often buy extra of Graphic 45, just so I can have enough to build a project and cut out the images for embellishements as I did on this page at the bottom.

I detailed cut the yummy cakes, bonbons, flower sprays and umbrellas from the journaling cards and paper scraps. To prevent them from blending into the background I popped them up on dimensional adhesive tape. Here are few up close up images of the deail cutting…just don’t look too close.

I also had the die cut reversible flowers that matched and used both sides to create more dimension in the flower. I enjoyed putting this layout together between the colors and the desserts it just made me smile. What is it about paper you love that makes layout come together that much faster.

I finally submitted my project without any pretense of trying to win, this was definately more about the “journey” and enjoying the process more than anything else. Considering it was a Graphic 45 contest I knew I would be inspired all month. This company never fails to attract incredibly talented crafters/artists, this contest did not disappooint. Submissions came in using a whole range of collections, from mermaids with their irradencent tails to layers of flowers and lace to the clean and simple it was awe inspiring. Needless to say I didn’t win anything but I did relax a little more, and gain a completed page ready for one of the kid’s albums.

Thanks for following along, I hope it inspires you to be creative this month.

Until next time…Stay safe and well!
