Good Morning,
Today I have a mini album I made from scraps while working on my “mason Jar conversion” mini. I had cut several “measuring cups” thinking I would make a formal mini album but in the end just went a with ring for the conversion charts. To see that project you can click here: Handy Kitchen Mason Jar conversion charts
I loved these measuring cups so I decided to challenge myself to make a less formal quick mini album using the cuts as well as scraps. Here is how my challenge turned out:
The pages are made up of a cut file that is a measuring cup card, that I modified a bit by flipping it and cutting on the connector in some cases. It does come with a base cut as well as top layer.
The cover page has a separte cut file for the title that had the small measuring cup icon as well.
Using the cut apart sheets (not all 3×4) I created some flaps and journaling places. The second page has a little bradturning the “Family” tag into a swing tab.
Once the tag is moved it open to a little flap in which the backside could be for journaling and a 4×4 photo mat. You can see my quick hinge to keep the pages together made from white cardstock. Again super simple mini album meant to be fun and quick.
The page on the left was a little tricky as I wanted to create a double photo mat opportunity. I layered two papers and added ribbon to cover the seam. The little jewel works as way help the flap open.
Here is the open flap giving two more places for photos. The photo mat on the measuring cup base is a 4×4, perfect for those cell phone photos.
The next page I used a 3×4 card trying to pull in some of the yellows and oranges of the previous page top layer. I created a small pocket and put a small tag of extra dot paper for journaling or a picture.
To keep my color theme going I went with this super cute 3×4 card with the salt and pepper. Then another 4×4 photo mat. I like the slanted orientation of the flap, for me it adds to the whismical nature of this album.
When I do a mini album I like to incorporate many layers, so I tried my best to sneak that concept in as much as possible. Since I find it so easy to snap a bunch of photos on my phone, these extra little spaces for detail food pictures as well my son are needed. This page has a 3×4 card perfect for a quick title or date. it then opens up to……
The cute paper with the writing. I like the dark contrast as well. The next page is my “firwork finale” page…
I was enjoying all the different shapes and colors on the cut apart page, in particular I liked how this small dark piece worked with the colorful 3×4 behind it. The dark color helped pull together the dark colors from the other page. The top flap opens….
…to a waterfall of three 3×4 cut aparts with cute sayings and space on the back for pictures. The colorful utensils was first then this green one then…..
this lemon which is perfect since this son is the lemonade king in our house! Then……
a little flap to add a little interest and give a journaling spot on the back before opening up to a final 4×4 picture.
I have to say I had so much fun putting this type of album together as I didn’t have to be concerned about precise measurments. I have never done a project “on the fly” like this without a ton of planning, it was so freeing. I hope you enjoyed it too!
