A Book Box of Treats for Book Club

Good Morning,

I am in the middle of my kid’s school year wrapping up along with my parent classroom job, book club.  I love it, it’s a great excuse to indulge into kids books while getting to know the kids in my son’s class.

Last Tuesday afternoon, I enthusiastically arrived to talk about our book only to be met with exhausted kids. The end of the school year has brought State testing as well as deadlines for a number of projects, by the time they see me after lunch they are exhausted.  Wanting our time to be enlighting but fun, I asked what I could do to help pep them up, cookies were promptly requested. To which, I was given various options given allergies and preferences.

With the cookie idea percolating in the back in of my mind, I came home to work on the more pressing need of family graduation cards. In looking for a caps and gowns, I came across these fun Book Boxes. I thought, what a cute idea to bring cookies to book club.

Of course having more luck figuring out the book club solution, I abandoned graduation for this cute cut file by Lori Whitlock.  I used an older Basic Grey  “hipster” collection to make all three “books” and the sticker sheet but for the bases, I used a Kraft paper. The cut file breaks down pretty easy with opportunities to do multiple pieces on one mat. The boxes do take a bit of folding on score lines as the spine is meant to be rounded, but overall it is easy to assemble.   The opening and depth of the boxes are pretty generous so I am sure I will have enough to make five happy, cookie-eating, book club kids.

Oh but wait, it’s for school, I have to share to with the whole class, I better get baking.

Untile next time…..

If you’re interested here is my supply list based on doing all three books:

  • For the Box and cover base – 4 sheets of Kraft Cardstock (or black, white or cream)
  • The Spine, Front and Back Panel – 3 different 12×12 double sided pattern paper (One sheet for each book)
  • Decoration accessories:  alphabets, flowers, sticker sheets etc.

**While I seem to be on a Lori Whitlock cut file kick lately I am not affiliated with her just love her designs and file set ups.
